Olive Shell and Kingman Turquoise Heishi Necklace (NCK331)

A dramatic and colourful combination 3 string heishi necklace of baby olive shell splashed with beads of Kingman Arizona turquoise, designed and hand made by talented IACA award winning Kewa Pueblo artist Lorraine Cate. The mainly chocolate coloured olive shell beads are randomly toned with beige, caramel and black. The contrast created with the shimmering light blue Kingman turquoise beads, evenly spaced around the strings, is quite amazing. The centrepiece is the near identical blocks of Kingman turquoise heishi, that grab at your attention and compliment the overall look of the necklace. The beads are nicely marked with a gold matrix. This remarkable necklace pulls together the traditional colour palette and design traditions of Kewa heishi in a very beautiful and pleasing way. The necklace clasp includes 2 small sterling silver cones, stamped with a Sun symbol. The jewellery features Lorraine's signature solitaire bead, in this instance a gorgeous cylindrical bead of coral. The necklace is bright and cheerful, sits comfortably and has a nice smooth texture. This necklace is classy and timelessly fashionable, but most of all, it is of the high quality expected from generations of Kewa heishi tradition.
