British Columbia Jade Necklace with Buffalo Bone (NCK352)

A vivacious and fascinating British Columbia Jade (nephrite) and Buffalo bone hair-pipe necklace, conceived and traditionally hand crafted by Sou'West Nova Metis artist Don Standing Bear Forest. The necklace consists of a five segment symmetrical design of 54 green beads, 1 larger focal bead and 4 cream coloured hair-pipes. The delightful British Columbia Jade bead colour ranges from mid-green through to dark green. Many stones are translucent and attractively marked with the characteristic black fibrous veining and mottling. The larger focal bead is a beautifully marked dark green. The Buffalo bone hairpipes are of a consistent rich creamy colour, with faint sandy veining and a nice texture and lustre. The necklace has a lobster clasp. The allure of Jade has endured for thousands of years because of its symbolism, beauty and toughness. In this design, Don combines these elements with the equally powerful symbolism of the Buffalo.
